Madison Dunn

Relative Business

With years of examining the physical body, at my home and family’s funeral home, my art primarily focuses on the impression of how time affects the human body through hyper realistic photographs. I deeply analyze mortality, my mental illness, along with the concept of impermanence to further push boundaries within myself while making.

Throughout Relative Business, I explore ideas of bereavement through people, places, and objects to produce an expressive body of work. Through enhanced lighting and color my art delves deeper into the inevitability of death and dying, to create a space for contemplation of the process of mourning. My photographs are a way of representing my obscure interpretation of grief, in addition to providing guidance to the viewer.
