Seeing in the Dark: Echoes of a Fragile World
In creating a cave gallery for my thesis, I draw on elements of inspiration to demonstrate the uniqueness of representing nature through an artificial lens. By adorning the space with vibrant colors and evocative textures, the artwork challenges our perception of these ancient gallery spaces while magnifying the unseen beauty and fragility of cave ecosystems threatened by human impact.
Bio
Rebecca Arble’s artistic practice stems from her upbringing in Collingswood, New Jersey, amidst nature's challenges within suburbia's superficial representation. Currently pursuing a BFA from the Maine College of Art & Design, her sculptural exploration led her to incorporate an assortment of materials such as wood, clay, metal, textiles, and plastic to create a fascinating whimsical space. These influences shape her immersive installations, allowing Arble's art to gracefully balance the natural and artificial, highlighting the beauty in the ordinary while emphasizing the necessity of adapting to environmental changes due to human-induced challenges.
